The theme is simple.
I want to run commercial Nutanix on unsupported rack servers.
This site documents experiments with general-purpose rack servers such as Dell PowerEdge, Supermicro, and other enterprise hardware, digging into Foundation, AHV, AOS, Phoenix, hardware layouts, the HCL, BIOS, BMC behavior, and storage controller detection to understand what it takes to make Nutanix run.
What you will find here is not a clean official procedure.
It is a record of reading logs, chasing errors, digging through Python code, modifying layout definitions, and forcing Foundation to recognize a server as a Nutanix node.
Nutanix CE is useful, but sometimes it is not enough.
I do not want to stop at official NX appliances or certified OEM configurations.
I want to understand Nutanix more deeply by running it on the rack servers I actually have in my lab.
This is a technical notebook for that kind of underground work.
